Also recognized as Jim Wilson, Jr., Chef Ra (1950–2006) was a cannabis foods writer and a fixture at Higher Instances. In the October, 1994 situation, he shared a recipe for his Ganjaween Grilled Apples in Dips. Probably it is time to revive Chef Ra’s spirit by revisiting the tempting dish for this year’s Halloween—a quarter of a century later.

All through the year we celebrate holidays which seriously have no which means to us other than the reality that we get off from function. But Halloween is the time to go more than the edge and be completely freaky.

Halloween has been 1 of the grand pagan holidays for centuries. Recognized as “All Saints Day,” Halloween is a discomfort in the ass for all the repressive puritans in our society. A mere mention of the word “pagan” brings chills to the correct-wing Christian majority that has ruled the Western globe by means of the ages. For centuries, everyone who did not accept the Christian way was deemed a heretic or witch and burned at the stake.

These days, the quite a few tribes of the counterculture are feeling the very same heat that the pagans felt in days of old. Along with the war on drugs, there is a war on our quite a few diverse cultures and lifestyles. The Powers That Be want to mash us down since we want legal hemp and social freedom. Not too long ago, a brother I know was attempting to set up a retailer to sell witchcraft books and all-natural herbs. It occurred to be in a modest, redneck Southern town. Needless to say, the nearby authorities did not dig the retailer. The brother was forced to leave town since of death threats. He was quoted on the evening news saying, “Please, God, guard me from your followers.” His case is just yet another instance of the intolerance that runs rampant in this nation.

So Halloween is a vacation of the downtrodden, a time for all of us on the outdoors to stand up and celebrate our turbulent presence on this planet. Let’s get fucked up, my pagan brothers and sisters! Regardless of whether you are black or white, gay or straight, religious or just plain born-once again pagan, let’s drink, smoke, fuck and be merry!

I would like to extend an invitation to all my fellow pagans to love the feast of All Saints Day (which is also known as “Allhallowmas”). But be cautious not to more than-indulge your self like a buddy of mine did final year. Each and every year, my buddies and I barhop about town in search of very good ganja, drink and casual sex. (Bear in mind to wrap that rascal!) We have been all dressed in our finest costumes when we set out to trick-or-treat. As quickly as we had discovered adequate of the above described vices, we headed to the woods for the major Chef Ra Allhallowmas Feast. This feast is the psychic connection for dope heads. (We do not have to have no 900 quantity!)

As the meals was becoming laid out on the table, I noticed my buddy Mona sampling my Ganjaween grilled apples. I watched as she ate 1, then two, then three…. “Hold it, girl,” I mentioned to her, “those are Ganjaween apples, and they are certain to fuck you up! Do not consume so quite a few!” Two hours later, the poor girl was screaming, “Help me, I’m gonna die, aid my ass, this shit has got me feelin’ like a load of laundry in the spin cycle!” Anyway, she lived, but was higher for a handful of days. So keep in mind, by no means consume also significantly ganja. Maintain the dose moderate, and by no means operate heavy machinery although below the influence…. Content Halloween!
